Suds With Buds FAQ
What’s an invitational beer festival?
We’ve invited several breweries from the UK and overseas to join us in creating a unique festival, with over 100 beers being poured from an eclectic mix of 20+ breweries.
Which breweries will be there?
We’ve been announcing the breweries whose beers will be pouring via our social media feeds and have also published a running list via the Suds With Buds blog post on our website.
When and where is it taking place?
Saturday July 1st, across as six-hour session between 2pm and 8pm. The festival will span the whole of our site at Hornbeam Park, covering the brewery itself, the Taproom, beer garden, The Sample Room upstairs and the brewery yard.
How accessible is the event?
Every part of the festival is wheelchair accessible, apart from The Sample Room. However, some areas have more limited accessibility than others - please get in touch if you have any questions relating to this.
How much are tickets and where can I buy one?
Tickets are available via www.roosters.co.uk form March 1st. Pricing has been split into three categories:
- Early Bird = £20 per ticket (book early and save 20% - limited tickets available)
- Not So Early Bird = £22.50 (save 10% with the next level of incentivised ticket pricing, available once Early Bird tickets have sold out)
- Full Price = £25
Early Bird and Not So Early Bird tickets are available until each allocation has sold out, and are available on a first come, first served basis. The earlier you buy a ticket, the more you save.
Each ticket holder will be given an exclusive souvenir glass to keep and a festival programme upon arrival.
What does the cost of a ticket cover?
The event has been budgeted to break even, with a variety of costs needing to be covered in order to pull it off. Here’s a brief breakdown of some of the costs the ticket price covers:
- The combined, associated costs of hosting 20+ breweries to join us and pour their beers
- The cost of shipping in beers from outside the UK, some of which will never have been poured this side of the Atlantic before
- Security, first aid and the provision of a wellness area
- Event staffing
- Additional event toilets
- Musicians, stage management and a DJ
- Staging and other associated equipment
- VAT @ 20%
How do I pay for beer on the day?
The festival will be a cashless event, with each brewery providing their own card facility for payment.
Is the event open to children?
As much as we’ve tried to make the event a family friendly one, for a variety of reasons, Suds With Buds is an over 18’s only festival. Sorry for any disappointment or inconvenience this may cause. Hopefully there’s enough time from tickets going on sale to the event taking place for any necessary childcare arrangements to be made if you’re reading this and don’t want to miss out.
Is the festival dog friendly?
Ordinarily, we love having dogs join us at the Taproom, but we’re sorry to say Suds With Buds won’t be a dog-friendly event. With the brewery being opened up for bars and seating, coupled with the layout of the space dictating that everyone at some point will need to pass through what is a essentially a food production facility, we’re unable to allow our four-legged friends to attend. With hundreds of people expected, it could also prove to be a worrying environment for certain dogs to find themselves in.
Is it just beer or are there other drink options available too?
Primarily, Suds With Buds is a beer festival, however, we appreciate that not everyone loves beer as much as we do. If you fall into that category, fear not, as our regular selection of soft drinks, wines, ciders and spirits will be available at the Main Taproom bar.
What food will be available?
As well as a trader being in the Taproom kitchen, we’ll have three additional street food vendors in the brewery yard. Combined, all four will be serving up some of the tastiest food the North has to offer, across an eclectic mix of styles and dietary requirements. We’ll announce who each of the traders are in the run up to the event.
Will there be music?
Yes! The beer garden will be playing host to a live music stage that’ll boast an incredible line-up of talent, both local to Harrogate and from further afield too - ideal for pairing with some fantastic beers with your buds. There’ll also be a vinyl DJ spinning some funky tunes in The Sample Room throughout the day.
Will the Taproom be open to non-festival goers on the day?
No, the Taproom will be closed on Saturday July 1st, operating purely for the purpose of Suds With Buds between 2pm and 8pm. It will be open as usual on both Friday June 30th and Sunday July 2nd.
