We're excited to have teamed up with Comedians Playing Fantasy Premier League to provide sponsorship for the second season of the popular comedy podcast hosted by renowned comedians Jon Richardson and Matt Forde. Jon will no doubt be instantly recognisable to many for his appearances as a team captain on 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown and the comedy series Meet The Richardsons, while Matt is the host of Absolute Radio's Rock 'N' Roll Football show, is a regular panellist on shows such as Have I Got News For You and voices several leading characters on Spitting Image.
For anyone reading this blog and who isn't familiar with the podcast, it loosely follows a Fantasy Premier League (FPL) of 30 of Britain’s most famous comedians, including: Josh Widdicombe, Alan Davies, Rob Beckett, Richard Osman, Iain Stirling and Russell Howard, intertwined with observations of Jon, Matt and their guests’ lives. As one reviewer summed it up “it’s 10% FPL, 90% nonsense”.
Several of our team are avid listeners of the podcast and we contributed content as the Oliver Beerhoff section of the show gathered pace towards the back end of the inaugural season.
Created in the summer of 2021, the podcast is entering its second year, with the new season kicking off on August 4th, ahead of the new Premier League campaign getting underway on August 6th. As well as being joined by their guests to talk all things football and comedy, the podcast will also feature Jon and Matt discussing the brewery and sampling a selection of Rooster’s beers across eight episodes set to be recorded in August.
We're hoping our partnership with the podcast will help to increase the profile and raise awareness of Rooster's as an independent, family-owned brewery, while shining a light on our award-winning, vegan friendly beers.
Plans are also underway for a live recording of the podcast to take place later in the year at our Taproom in Harrogate, a venue that already hosts a monthly comedy night (Really Funny Comedy) and has attracted comedians such as Troy Hawke, Jack Carroll and Simon Lomas to join host Micky P Kerr over the past few months.
Having taken a break for the summer, Really Funny Comedy will be back at the Taproom on the last Thursday of every month from September 29th onwards.
