Brewed to coincide with Yorkshire Day on August 1st, we’ve brewed White Rose every year since 2011, choosing a different local cause to support each time it’s released and we've now donated over £10,000 to a variety of local charities over the years.
We’ve pledged to donate 10p from every pint sold, which will total over £850, to Harrogate-based charity, Harrogate & District Community Action (HADCA), with the annual brew of our White Rose beer this summer. With every sup of the refreshing pale ale enjoyed in pubs across Yorkshire and beyond, real ale drinkers will be supporting the local charity. This independent registered charity supports communities, charities and volunteers throughout the Harrogate District of North Yorkshire.
We’re pleased to be able to play a small part in helping HADCA carry out the vital services they provide. The challenges that many people are facing on a day-to-day basis right now, especially the energy crisis that has fuelled a substantial rise in the cost of living have led to a growing need for support in lots of different ways. It's also comforting to know that, with White Rose only being available as a cask beer served in pubs, drinkers will also be able to support the hospitality industry with each pint supped too.
Since 1988 HADCA has been connecting and supporting local charities, volunteers and people across Harrogate district communities. They champion community action using their Volunteering Directory and provide a fully searchable ‘Where To Turn’ directory of support and activities supporting good health and well-being.
Over the past year, Harrogate & District Community Action has supported 103 organisations in recruiting 247 volunteers for various roles, connected 141 individuals through network meetings, and kept over 1,000 community contacts informed with weekly e-bulletins.
This year, we’re celebrating 30 years of brewing and, since moving the brewery to our original home of Harrogate in 2019 and subsequently opening the onsite Taproom, we’ve become a hub for the local community. The Taproom plays host to various community events, including a monthly folk night, charity fundraisers and also exhibits local artists’ work.
White Rose will be available on the bar at Rooster’s Taproom throughout August and various pubs within the Harrogate area, across Yorkshire and beyond.
