ABOUT THE ROLE

 This is a hands-on brewing role supporting the Head Brewer, Lead Brewer and Production Manager across the full brewing, fermentation and packaging process. You will take responsibility for allocated brews, ensuring recipes and processes are followed accurately, and that quality, consistency, hygiene and safety standards are maintained throughout.

The role covers all aspects of day-to-day brewery operations, including brewing, fermentation, yeast management, quality control, packaging, cleaning and stock management. You will also help identify and resolve any production issues and ensure brewing operations are carried out safely and efficiently.

We are looking for an experienced brewer who is passionate about producing high-quality beer, has strong attention to detail and takes pride in maintaining excellent standards across the brewery.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

To assist the Head Brewer, Lead Brewer and Production Manager in the brewing, packaging and cleaning process plus any other duties as required.

DETAILED DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee the production of any beer allocated from brewing schedule

Execute brewing operations according to established recipes, monitor, and record all stages of the brewing process (timings, temperature, pH etc.) from mashing to packaging, ensuring correct stock rotation of all raw materials

Perform quality checks and all necessary lab work, including analysis throughout the brewing process to ensure consistency of flavour, ABV, and appearance

Identify and raise any issues / concerns relating to any given brew day with line manager

Monitor and manage yeast health

Order raw materials when requested

Operate steam boiler in the correct, precise, and safe manner as instructedby immediate manager. Specifically ensure that the correct set up and shut down procedures are followed and immediately report any problems or concerns to Head Brewer or Production Manager

CIP brewhouse vessels as and when required

Work on canning line as require to help with the packaging of cans

Stack and wrap pallets to fulfill customer orders when requested

Assist drivers with van loading when requested

Carry out maintenance work when requested

Strictly adhere to process procedures and cleaning regimes whilst maintaining a clean and sanitary brewing environment, adhering to all food safety regulations

Always follow strict Health and Safety and COSHH guidelines

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Technical Knowledge: 
Deep understanding of the brewing process, including
mashing, lautering, boiling, fermentation, and packaging 

Quality Assurance:
 Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent quality standards 

Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and help find solutions quickly 

Communication Skills: Effective communication with other departments, including sales, marketing, and management 

DESIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: At least 2 years brewing experience or the equivalent

Qualifications: General Certificate in Brewering or the equivalent

Other desireable: Forklift licence holder
